For many people around the globe, balding is a significant matter of concern and lack of confidence because having healthy, thick, and fuller hair is one of the superior signs of aesthetic personality building. The reasons for baldness or hair loss could be genetic or prolonged illness or other factors like diet and stress.
Hair transplant surgery can provide a long-lasting, natural-looking solution to male pattern baldness. We at Bello Med understand the impact of balding on self-esteem, and are here to help you regain your confidence. Via a simple surgical procedure, hair follicles from areas of the scalp that still have hair are transferred to areas that are thinning or bald, resulting in a full head of hair.
The process of hair transplantation has been in practice since the 1950s in the US, but the recent years have brought many advancements in the procedure, making it more effective and successful. However, the lack of scalp hair is more common in men than women, and if not treated, it may lead to a risk of actinic damage and skin cancer.
What to expect from the procedure?
There are two main methods of the hair transplantation procedure – Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Both methods for hair restoration use ‘donor hair’ follicles extracted from your own scalp, under a local anesthetic. In the FUT method a whole strip of the scalp is removed from the donor area, then hair grafts are being extracted, and then implanted in the balding are. The method is not performed in our clinics due to being outdated, leaving scars and has lower success rate.
The technique that our doctors perform is the FUE where the follicle extraction is done one by one using a special tool. The treatment plan will be created individually for each patient, depending on the case, the patient’s expectations, and our experienced surgeons` recommendation. The procedures are performed in a safe, clinical, environment. Our experts will ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method involves extracting hair grafts from the donor area one by one, and then implanting them in the desired area individually. Is it the most advanced and popular hair transplantation technique because it is safe, minimally invasive, has minor side effects and no scarring.
Before the procedure takes place, you will have a consultation with the head of the operation, you will discuss the desired effect, and fill in a consent form. Then, you will make a quick blood test to make sure that you are suitable to have the operation and you will be prepared for the procedure. The procedure lasts 5-7 hours and has three stages: grafts extraction, channel opening and graft implantation. The grafts extraction lasts 1-2 hours and consists of creating micro punches (0.8mm-1mm) to extract hair follicles while leaving behind no signs of extraction.
After that, using a special tool with sapphire blade, the head of the operation is opening small channels in the implantation area, matching the number of hair grafts that are extracted. This stage takes about 2 hours.
Next is the implantation stage, where all grafts are implanted using special tweezers, and it takes about 1 hour.
In the end the nurses will put bandages and antiseptic creme on your head, they will instruct you carefully for the after-care and will provide you with the needed cosmetics and medications.
dhi
FUE and DHI hair transplantation methods are not very different. In both methods, the hair follicles are being extracted and implanted one by one in the scalp. The only difference in the procedure of hair transplantation by DHI is in the implantation itself. It is performed with a device in the form of a pen (Choi Implanter). In this apparatus with a very fine end canal, the channels are opened and the hair follicles are planted at the same time.
Thanks to DHI, hair is transferred to the new area ready to grow. During hair transplantation, not only the hair roots, but also the fat that are necessary for hair growth and the outer membrane which provides protection of the root are also transferred with hair. In DHI hair transplant, hair transplantation can be performed more frequently, but for a smaller number of hair grafts (up to 3,000 grafts).
Both DHI and FUE methods for hair transplantation are advanced and preferred by both surgeons and patients, due to the high success rate, less bleeding and fewer scars, and the shortened healing process. Our well-experienced surgeons and medical consultants will help you choose the proper treatment plan and method for the hair transplantation procedure.
