Many women feel uncomfortable with the size and shape of their breasts, which can affect body confidence and self-esteem. Breast surgery is one the most frequently performed cosmetic procedures to enhance, change implants, reduce or lift the breast.

Breast Enlargement

There are different types of breast implants available. Patients can choose the type of implant and shape. During your free consultation, your consultant can explain the different types of implants available and why they might suit your individual needs. The Implant types available are Silicone gel (soft), Silicone gel (firm) and Saline. The Implant shapes available are Round shape, Teardrop shape (CPG) and Projection shape. The procedure often lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. Before your surgery, you must follow the guidance given for eating, drinking and taking medications the night before.

The procedure further involves signing a consent form, on the day of, or the day before the surgery.
Then, before the surgery starts, your anaesthetist will administer your anaesthetic. They may use either a general anaesthetic, or a local anaesthetic with IV (intravenous) sedation. You and your surgeon will discuss which anaesthetic to use during your first consultation.
Your surgeon will clean and drape your skin before making the incisions in the areas discussed. They will place the incisions in less visible areas in order to create a more aesthetically pleasing result.

There are three areas where an incision can be made during your breast enlargement procedure – Transaxillary (in the armpit), Periareolar (around the areola) or Inframammary (below the breast, in the inframammary fold). After the incision is made, the implants are to be placed. Subglandular/Submammary implants are placed over the chest muscle. They can create a more defined breast shape as the implant is closer to the skin’s surface. As the procedure is less invasive, you may feel less pain in the first few days after surgery. Placing the implant over the muscle leads to less movement of the implant when the chest muscle moves or flexes.

Subpectoral implants are placed under the chest muscle and are less likely to be felt or seen. This is because the muscle provides excellent soft tissue padding. As these implants are not directly below the breast tissue, they are also less likely to interfere with mammograms. This placement is however, more invasive and would therefore lead to a longer recovery period.

Dual plane implants combine both subglandular and subpectoral techniques. The top part of the implant sits under the muscle. This reduces the risk of implant visibility and ripples. The bottom part sits directly in contact with the breast tissue. This helps create a more curvaceous underboob. Your surgeon will work with you to choose which technique will work best for you. Together you will also choose the size, shape, placement of your desired breasts, and create a personal treatment plan for you.

Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction Surgery, also known as Reduction Mammaplasty, is a procedure to reduce the size of the breasts by removing excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue to ease the discomfort of having over-sized breasts. Some of the reasons for women to have this procedure done are backache, breast pain, difficulty buying clothes due to chest disproportion, difficulty in purchasing underwear which fits comfortably, inability to wear strappy tops and not having the choice to go without a bra. Large breasts may also be inhibiting your ability to take part in physical sports. Hundreds of women visit our clinics with the same problem, and many of them choose Breast Reduction Surgery with one of our well trained and experienced surgeons.

Breast Lift

Breasts may sag due to age and pregnancy and incorrect use of bra. As the nipple subsides, the length of the chest extends downward. These sags, which do not have an aesthetic appearance, cause unhappiness to women. With the Breast lift, the appearance of the breasts that the patients want to have is determined. If the breast is small and sagging, the breast is lifted and augmented with the silicone gel. Breast lift surgery is a procedure to raise the breast by tightening the surrounding tissue to give the breast more shape and support. Breast uplift procedure can vary depending on the size of your breast, but it usually works by making an incision on each breast, the skin is then lifted and stitched in its new position and excess skin removed. Benefits of Breast Lift surgery are increased self-confidence and self-esteem, ability to wear tops without a bra, a wider choice of clothes and rejuvenation of the breasts. Breast Reduction Surgery is performed under general anaesthetic, and involves removing excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin from your breasts, reshaping the remaining breast tissue, and repositioning your nipples. The operation will normally take between 2 and 3 hours.

You and your surgeon will discuss the procedure or combination of procedures suitable for you, and create a personalised treatment plan.
